Losing weight while
eating ONLY McDonald’s? Yes you read that right, John Cisna, a biology teacher in
a high school from Iowa in the United States lost almost 17 kilograms
eating only McDonalds!
This started as a diet
experiment to show his students that as long as you limit the amount of
calories you take a day, sticking to the recommended daily allowances for
nutrients and some exercise, eating fast food is not really all that bad. This
was mentioned in an interview with KCCI television
But, of course this
does not mean that you should just go ahead and start thinking of which three
McDonald’s menu items that you’re going to eat for your three meals. To save
you the trouble, we have done some research looking into the whys and how’s.
In an interview with HuffingtonPost, NYU professor and nutritionist Lisa Young, Ph.D.,
R.D., C.D.N., Says that it’s not
surprising that Cisna was able to lose weight, as people could lose weight any
way as long as you eat less and you’re conscious.
And I really have to agree
with a point she mentioned, it really isn’t easy to
walk in a place where the temptation of fries and soda and cheeseburgers are
all over the place and remember about your healthy plan you were so determined
to carry out. Imagine yourself eating a salad, only to turn around and look at
people eating thick juicy burgers, chewing on hot crispy fries, and drinking
coke. It’ll feel worse than collecting the results for the test last week that
you had forgotten to study for!
On top of your diet, Exercise is
also very important to keep your body healthy and to help you build some muscle ;especially the men, we need to have some strength too. The Health Promotion Board (HPB) recommends all
Singaporeans to get at least 150 – 300 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic
activity per week for optimum weight loss and to see an overall improvement on
health. Some activities include: Badminton, Cycling and swimming.
Muscle-strengthening
activities are also recommended on 2 or more days a week, which include lifting
weights and various body weight exercises. For more complete details on types
of exercises and activities you can do, you can click HERE.
Now, just a little
question for the readers. Would you guys want to eat ONLY McDonald’s for all 3
meals? Preferring a bit of variety to my meals, at least I don’t think I would
want to. Speaking of variety, here’s a blog called “The Five Spoons” by Republic polytechnic students where you can look up for
fantastic food in Singapore
and for those of you who want to try healthy
cooking by yourself, you can look at this blog “Skinny taste”.
All in all, as long as
you balance your diet out by being conscious about your daily calorie intake,
cutting down on fried food and coupled with a well thought out exercise plan
that you actually carry out, no not the plan that you wrote on that one page in
your diary that you never look, having more fast food in your meals isn’t going
to be a big problem.
P.s. If anyone
actually wants to try out the three month McDonald’s only diet, do let me know!

WHAT THE HECK? Losing weight from eating McDonald's?!? Unheard of!
ReplyDeleteYes, Exactly! It is a wonder how he actually pulled it off
DeleteWOW. Thats quite an achievement. But i wonder if losing weight equates to getting healthier though. Especially since he is doing it through something like McDonalds!
ReplyDeletei have the same thoughts as you! though i believe as long as you balance your nutritional intake coupled with good amounts of exercise, it would be great.
DeleteI'm really shocked by the fact that one could lose weight by just eating McDonalds since Mcdonalds had always been shadowed by the stigma of obesity. This blog post was really an eye-opener. Cheers for the blog post man!
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you, I was really shocked myself too! when I read about this, I KNEW I had to write about it!
DeleteYAY more reasons to love macdonalds!!
ReplyDeleteHaha, do eat McDonald's in moderation though!
DeleteI guess even if he loses weight, it's the unhealthy way! I love your post by the way, it's so bizzare!
ReplyDeletewhy thank you! and i agree with you too, though it's a method to lose weight, the amount of preservatives and other unhealthy elements would definitely prove otherwise to our health!
